
Installation Process for a Double-Layer Roll Forming Machine
A double-layer roll forming machine integrates two independent forming systems into one equipment frame, allowing different roofing profiles to be produced without replacing the complete machine. Proper installation is essential for maintaining forming accuracy, mechanical stability, and long-term operating performance.
Site Preparation and Foundation Requirements
Before installation, prepare a level and sufficiently strong concrete foundation according to the machine's overall weight, dimensions, and operating load. The foundation should provide adequate load-bearing capacity and vibration resistance.
The installation area should have sufficient space for coil loading, finished-sheet handling, maintenance, and operator access. The floor should be level, dry, and free from obstacles. Foundation bolts or suitable anchor systems should be positioned according to the machine's installation drawing.
Machine Positioning and Leveling
After the foundation has cured, move the machine into the designated position using suitable lifting equipment. Carefully align the main frame with the foundation centerline.
Use a precision level to check the longitudinal and transverse alignment of the machine. Adjust the leveling points or shims until the frame is stable and properly leveled. Incorrect leveling may cause sheet deviation, uneven roller loading, and premature wear.
Installation of Main Components
Install and inspect the decoiler, feeding guide, two roll forming units, transmission system, cutting mechanism, hydraulic station, electrical cabinet, and finished-sheet support according to the equipment layout.
Check the alignment of forming rollers and transmission shafts. Confirm that chains, gears, couplings, and fasteners are properly installed and securely tightened.
Electrical and Hydraulic Connections
Connect the main power supply according to the machine's specified voltage, frequency, grounding, and electrical protection requirements. Inspect all control wiring before energizing the system.
Install hydraulic pipelines and check fittings for secure connections. Fill the hydraulic system with the specified oil and inspect for leakage before commissioning.
Double-Layer System Adjustment
The two forming layers should be checked independently. Verify that each forming path operates smoothly and that the selected profile corresponds correctly to its roller configuration.
During initial commissioning, operate the machine at low speed without material, then conduct trial forming with the specified steel coil. Check sheet alignment, profile dimensions, surface condition, cutting length, and transmission operation.
Foundation and Installation Acceptance
A properly installed machine should have a stable frame, accurate leveling, secure anchoring, correct roller alignment, reliable electrical connections, and leak-free hydraulic lines. After trial production, inspect all fasteners and transmission components again and retighten where necessary.
Actual foundation dimensions, anchor-bolt positions, and load requirements should always follow the manufacturer's installation drawings and technical specifications, rather than relying on general dimensions.
Safety and Maintenance After Installation
Only qualified personnel should perform electrical, hydraulic, and lifting operations. Before commissioning, confirm that protective guards, emergency-stop devices, and safety controls are functioning correctly.
Regular lubrication, roller inspection, fastener checking, and electrical maintenance should be carried out after installation to maintain stable production performance.
